Baby Gaumata With Lumpy Skin Disease Rescued From Sector 150, Noida

A Rescue on the Day of Freedom

On 15th August 2026, while the country celebrated its Independence Day, a call reached GauNandiSewa about a baby Gaumata in distress in Sector 150, Noida. She was young, still finding her feet in the world, and her skin was covered in the painful, swollen nodules of Lumpy Skin Disease. There was no freedom in her condition — only fever, discomfort, and a body fighting a virus it did not choose. GauNandiSewa's animal rescue ambulance was dispatched at once, and she was carefully lifted, comforted, and brought in for immediate medical attention.

Understanding What She Is Fighting

Lumpy Skin Disease is a viral infection that spreads through biting insects and leaves cattle with firm, raised nodules across the skin, along with fever, swelling, and a general weakness that can be especially hard on a young calf still growing. It is painful, it is contagious, and it demands careful, round-the-clock monitoring — exactly the kind of care a baby Gaumata cannot receive on the street, and exactly what she needed the moment she arrived at our hospital.

Inside Our Advanced Lumpy ICU Ward

She was brought safely to GauNandiSewa Hospital and admitted into our special advanced ICU ward built specifically for lumpy-affected cows — a space designed to isolate, stabilize, and nurse animals through this disease with the continuous attention it requires. Under the watch of our medical team, she remains there now, day and night, as her body works to heal.

A Prayer for Her Strength

The Rigveda carries a verse that speaks directly to what we wish for her — a cow's health, vitality, and thriving:

अघ्न्येयं सा वर्धतां महते सौभगाय

aghnyeyaṁ sā vardhatāṁ mahate saubhagāya

"May this inviolable cow grow and thrive toward great good fortune." (Rigveda 1.164.27) It is a simple wish, and it is ours for her too — that the small, sick calf found on Sector 150's roadside on Independence Day grows into a strong, healthy Gaumata, free of the disease that brought her to us.
