Gaumata With 3rd-Degree Acid Burns Rescued in Delhi During Lockdown
On April 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, GauNandiSewa rescued a Gaumata in Delhi suffering from severe third-degree acid burns. She was brought for urgent treatment, remained under continued care, and ultimately healed.
When the World Had Stopped, Seva Could Not
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna:
नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मणः ।
शरीरयात्रापि च ते न प्रसिद्ध्येदकर्मणः ॥
niyataṁ kuru karma tvaṁ karma jyāyo hy akarmaṇaḥ
śarīra-yātrāpi ca te na prasiddhyed akarmaṇaḥ
“Perform the duty that must be done, because action is greater than inaction.”
In April 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, roads were empty, movement was restricted and almost everything around us had come to a halt.
But suffering had not stopped. In Delhi, a Gaumata was found with severe third-degree acid burns. Her body had been deeply injured, and she needed urgent treatment at a time when even reaching an injured animal had become difficult.
Rescued During the Lockdown
GauNandiSewa reached her in Delhi during the lockdown and brought her safely into care.
The rescue itself was only the beginning. Third-degree burns require prolonged treatment, repeated wound care and patience. Her injuries could not be healed in a single day, and recovery demanded continued medical attention over time.
Treatment Began Immediately
She was given urgent treatment for her burn injuries and remained under GauNandiSewa's care while the wounds were repeatedly treated and monitored.
Day after day, treatment continued.
Slowly, the damaged tissue began to heal. What had first appeared to be a devastating injury gradually became a recovery journey.
From Third-Degree Burns to Healing
She survived.
Her wounds healed.
And a rescue that began in the silence of the 2020 lockdown became another reminder that seva does not wait for circumstances to become convenient.
नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं — Do the Duty That Must Be Done
When roads are empty, when circumstances are difficult and when help is harder to reach, dharma does not disappear.
Krishna's words make the responsibility clear:
नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं
For GauNandiSewa, that duty was to reach her, bring her into safety, continue treatment and remain with her until the severe wounds that once covered her body finally healed.
This Gaumata remains part of GauNandiSewa's documented record of severe acid-burn survivors rescued and treated during one of the most difficult periods of the COVID-19 lockdown.
